From the moment I first learned to read, I was hooked on stories… especially the kind that kept me up past my bedtime, heart racing, as I flipped pages under the covers with a flashlight in hand. I adored Little House on the Prairie and Anne of Green Gables (hellooo to all my fellow freckle-sisters!), but it was the suspense of Stephen King and twisty mysteries that truly pulled me in.

My path to book coaching wasn’t a straight line. After earning a degree in Biology-Geology and serving briefly in the Peace Corps in Honduras, I spent 25 years in biomedical research administration and grant writing. Along the way, I led high-impact grant writing teams at colleges and universities, translated complex ideas into compelling proposals, and coached college faculty to secure transformative funding for improved access to education and student success initiatives. Along the way, I discovered a knack for shaping narratives and breaking down big goals into manageable parts… skills that now fuel my work with fiction writers.

Eventually, I realized my true passion wasn’t just storytelling… it was helping others tell their own stories. I took a leap of faith, and pivoted from academic proposals to working with the stories I’ve loved since childhood: mystery and suspense.

Today, I coach research-minded writers who’ve spent years prioritizing everyone else’s deadlines. If you’ve got a story idea (and a packed calendar), I’ll help you make space for it… with structure, strategy, and a little southern grit. As a book coach certified through Author Accelerator, I believe writing doesn’t have to be so lonely. Or so hard. You don’t have to figure it all out by yourself.

When I’m not coaching, you’ll find me exploring Charleston’s food scene with my husband, wrangling our five cats (and the occasional foster kittens), or curled up with a good book. I’ve also been known to chase a pickleball now and then…
